Fashionista of the Week: Rebecca

As we say good-bye to April, let's say hello to Becca, our fashionista of the week! Bec mixes simple pieces to create fun and mature outfits. Some of her favorite fashion hotspots are TopShop in London, and Forever 21 - a lot of her great pieces come from these stores! Take a look:

MONDAY
These Jessica Simpson boots are awesome! The small heel makes the outfit a little dressier without being impractical.

TUESDAY
Rainy day! Her wellies add a splash of color to the rest of the outfit. Also note the vintage coach satchel! Old coach leather is the besttt!

WEDNESDAY
By pairing a simple t-shirt with a high-wasited skirt, this outfit is both casual and classy. Also, I love the foreign lettering!

THURSDAY
Leopard print! This outfit is cool because it uses all neutral colors through a mix of solids and print.

FRIDAY
Cute and comfy - bring on the sun! =]

Mix and Match!

Wear a fun print, and don't worry about finding something to match perfectly! Good-bye solids with prints. This spring, wear two different prints together! Pair stripes with florals, as pictured! Also, try pairing different textures - I have a light floral skirt that I love to wear with a denim button down tucked in! Have fun and be creative. It's hard to go wrong when clashing is in!

Free People Loving

This past weekend I went to Boston! It was so exciting, but knowing me...no weekend is complete without a few hours of shopping. I schlepped everyone into Free People at the Prudential Center so I could practice some serious retail therapy. As always I walked out of that store completely satisfied! I bought a really cute dress that caught my eye the moment walked into the store and I cannot wait for summer to whip it out.

(Note: Excuse the many pictures of my friends/family in the background! That's my closet wall peppered with fun times!)

Okay so starting with the colors: I think that I'm drawn to purple, orange, and pink. Literally ALL of my summer clothes have a hint of these colors...or turquoise! I love that the dress is a pretty simple cut, but the detail near the bust is accentuated with brass stud details and swirling embroidery...not to mention the adorable scalloped detail at the hemline (sorry I cut it off!!). Even though the print is subtle it still adds a huge amount of flavor to the pretty details of the dress.

There isn't much to say about the back. It is just as simple and sweet, but the crisscrossed back adds a little bit more fun detail to the dress. If you look closely you can see the detail on the hem.

Colorful Sneaks

Colorful sneakers are always a fun way to add a punch of color to any outfit. Instead of blabbing about how to wear them, what to wear them with, etc., I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves. With such a bold expression on your feet, how you decide to wear them is very personalized and unique. Go crazy and don't be afraid to stand out!

Funky Fingers!

I love nail polish. I find that just adding the drop of color can be a fantastic accessory. The problem is that I'm always cautious to put on nail polish unless I know I will take it off, because chipped nail polish is a faux pas - one that I am often guilty of.

That's why I'm so happy I've discovered Funky Fingers. This brand of nail polish comes in tons of fun colors. What's better - it barely chips! I polished my nails with this stuff a week ago, and the manicure looks like it was done this morning! I also love that the colors actually come out the way they appear. There's nothing worse than buying nail polish, and then going home to find that it's totally sheer, or that what you thought was purple is actually more pink!

I have the lazer pink, blue light, bizerk turq, and moonwalk (a sparkly black). Two of them I got for free, but recently I went to Five Below, where they sell the polish 3 for $5! What a bargain! These are inexpensive and really good quality... so get funky!

My personal collection! Colors are as written above, respectively.

More colors!

And more!

UO $5 Sale

My reaction when I discovered Urban Outfitters was having a $5 online sale was a sight to see! Here are some cool finds that are totally worth the five dollar ticket price (unfortunately I can't put up the pics...sorry guys).

This tank has a really fun neckline and the straps cross in the back. The print is also really cute! Pick from bubble zebra and faded ombre.

These headbands come as a set of two (double the bang for your buck)! Each headband, white and green, are braided with a sequin strand included to add a little glitz and glam to your polished do.

This was the one item I bought from the $5 sale. I bought my pair of earrings in sky blue. I love the simplicity and subtle touch of color of this accessory. The earrings also come in pink and they were available in a pretty smoky brown, but that color is sold out!

In the fall I'm heading up to Boston for college and I've been starting to think about decorating my dorm. This cool hook would be awesome to hang on my wall! I can hang a few scarves I have or some necklaces on here to organize my room. The sweetest part: it's made from recycled tin and personalized with the letter of my first name! Sadly for many other letters in the alphabet, the letters E, L, and S are the only letters remaining.

The sale is ending soon! Take a look as soon as possible! Don't see anything you like in the $5 sale? Urban always has items on sale that are less than $20, so check that out as well. Enjoy :]

Cute Clothes, Unexpected Places

Because my mom is a teacher she is always on the hunt for casual yet professional skirts, sweaters, dresses, etc. Her favorite store: Ann Taylor Loft. Little by little the Loft is changing their demographic to fit mothers and their daughters, which is why some new cute items have caught my eye. Remember the boyfriend blazer? Well this spring Loft has taken a whole new outlook on the blazer...cropped military blazers! They're so adorable thrown over a silk ruffled dress and paired with wedges (a spring/summer staple). Recently, I bought this one-shoulder dress and I absolutely love it. The cool colors work wonderfully with the vivid tribal-like print and the detailed strap ties everything together. Although the Loft is on key with style trends for the upcoming months, the collection for spring is still true to the traditional, classy, and polished nature of the store. Browse through the Loft's website and be sure to look at the Looks We Love for complete outfits that are head to toe Ann Taylor Loft.

Summer Boots

One of my favorite fashion items of the winter is boots, and every spring I have difficulty parting and switching to sandals. What I've discovered is that a lot of shoe designers are now making "summer boots." Sounds like an oxymoron, right? Wrong. These shoes are part flip flop, so your feet can stay cool in the summer, but they have a boot top. High-top shoes are flattering for many women, because they help to elongates legs. So for someone with short legs, wearing a boot-style year-round is a dream come true! Keep an eye out, because these shoes come in many different colors and styles!

These are from M.I.A. Shoes. The khaki material is light for the summer!
Another pair from Urban Outfitters - try these if you want to throw in some color!

New Prints

Conduct a survey asking women about their favorite summer print, and I guarantee you that a good majority would respond "floral." I have to admit, I love florals. I own at least five floral dresses and skirts, and they are my favorite go-to items on a warm summer day (or in this case, a gorgeous day of spring break!). But it's good to remember that there are prints out there other than florals! If you want to change up your look this season, try a new print! I've seen a skirt with little people on it, and one with a red train that circled around it. This is a skirt from Anthropologie, which uses stamps as the main print. With so many different options, be creative and find one you love!

Fashionisto of the Week: Eduardo

After being asked by a few followers to post about men's clothing, we decided to choose our first male fashionista! Eduardo's clothing give a great idea of a neat and put together look that any man can pull off. He combines cardigans, plaids, and prints to look fashionable without looking over-the-top. Small details like the boat shoes, the leather belt, and button-ups make his look preppy-casual. There's no Friday picture because of Good Friday, but check out the rest of the week:

Trenches

Since Dani told me about What I Wore (mentioned in the last post), I've been obsessed! Practically every morning I read the blog to see what new outfits Jessica Schroeder is wearing. Her style is absolutely adorable, and one signature piece in her wardrobe has caught my eye! I fell in love with the Coach trench (see left) she pairs with almost every outfit in the spring. This past weekend I went out in search of the perfect trench of my own. I was super excited when I found this really cute orange Jones New York coat at Macy's! The bright orange (my favorite color!) stands out and adds a huge pop of color to the sweet button details of my spring jacket. I'd have to say this is one fashion trend that everyone should take advantage of. Rain, shine, slightly chilly, or bright and warm...a trench is essential for all spring weather!

Tips for picking the perfect trench: Try a bright color! Yellow, turquoise, red...there are endless options. If you aren't up for the color splash, go for the traditional beige trench with interesting or unusual details.

Happy spring shopping! PS- Sorry for the lack of pictures of my own trench! I'll update soon with a few!
